A podcast is a regularly-updated mp3 audio show that's been made available to listeners over the Internet in a way that allows scheduling and automatic downloading for listening at a later date.
This is accomplished through something called a syndicated RSS feed. To receive a podcast, you need a computer, an Internet connection, and podcasting software called an "aggregator." You will "subscribe" to podcasts using this software. Once subscribed, the software will download updated podcasts from all the feeds to which you're subscribed. You will then be able to listen from your computer, or - if you prefer - you can transfer them to any portable mp3 player.
